Former Ford Motor Company Factory Houses MultiTouch Design Foundry and Interactive Showroom; First Annual MultiTouch Global Partner Summit Held

HELSINKI and SANTA CLARA, CA – MultiTouch, Ltd., developer of the world’s first modular multi-touch LCD screen for large-scale displays, today announced the opening of its new headquarters facility, located in the historic former Ford Motor Company building on the Helsinki harborside. Located at Henry Fordin Katu 6 B, the 20,000-square foot building features forty-five foot ceilings with full windows, and a massive first-floor design and research area. The second floor features a portal-styled corridor for executive offices and briefing rooms, as well as a custom-configured showroom for clients. A 3,000-square foot sound stage is also available for staging installations and developing new concepts for multitouch wall designs.

MultiTouch will also hold its first annual global partner summit today in its new showroom, which is the world’s largest multitouch display showcase facility, with fifteen demonstration areas. Presentations will include product and technology previews from Petri Martikainen, CEO of MultiTouch; Hannu Anttila, vice president of sales; Tommi Ilmonen, CTO, and Timo Korpela, general manager of MultiTouch Americas, and customer presentations from firms including Bellprat, Intuilab, and uma, among others.

“Henry Ford came to Finland to make cars in this building; we are now making multitouch displays for the world in this building. We are fortunate to have such a prestigious landmark edifice for this next phase of our company,” said Martikainen. “The inspirational value of our location is incalculable, and we anticipate even greater innovation from our team as a result.”

Introduced to the global market in 2009, the MultiTouch Cell product family has been sold in more than 40 countries, and installed in some of the most prominent international venues, including the recent Space Shuttle exhibit at NASA’s Space Center Houston; the Patina installations at Acme Brick stores; the Wall of Chile installation at the Chilean Pavilion at the Expo 2010 Shanghai China; the ‘One Road Interactive’ exhibit at the National Museum of Australia, and the Graffiti Bar installation in Tokyo. The Cell products are used for broadcast, retail, advertising, exhibitions, museums, education and design.
